National Parks Currency
The Creative Brief: "Money is not often given a second look. After having learned the look and value of each, people exchange bills and coins frequently and without much notice of the designs on them. This interaction results in a
person-to-person connection, but rarely a person-to-story connection. Much like "judging a book by its cover," a design can be quickly passed over or discarded all because the design fails to catch the viewer's eye.
For this assignment, you will have an opportunity to combine images and text in order to quickly communicate concept and story in an irresistible fashion—all so those who would glance at the bills you’ve designed would cease to become glancers and would be converted to engaged story participants."
The Plan: Interagency passes allow for entrance to many different recreational areas.
However, these passes exclude many other travel necessities such as gas, food, camping fees, parking, tours, transportation services, etc. Upon purchasing an Interagency Pass I will create a currency that is distributed along with the pass to use for these other travel necessities. Visually, I decided to place a national park on the front of each bill followed by the fauna of the park on the back side. I kept the bills at standard U.S. dollar bill size and kept a reflective strip to avoid counterfeit issues.
